After vigorous opposition and a coordinated effort, the PDCA was successful in removing the sales tax on dry cleaning from the proposed Pennsylvania state budget. Governor Tom Wolf has declined to sign or veto the latest version of the dry cleaning service tax proposal sent to him, so there is no sales tax expansion into the industry.

A new budget will be proposed in a few months, and PDCA will continue to protect members and their customers by keeping up to date with what is happening and maintaining the “no sales tax” position with legislators.

PDCA vice president Dale Kaplan recently hosted a group of legislators in his dry cleaning plant to voice opposition to any increase in taxes that would affect small businesses or increase costs to their customers.

The meeting was reported on March 3, 2017 on Harrisburg TV station, WHTM-ABC27.
